Welcome to my Blogsite!

I'm a lifestyle PHOTOGRAPHER based in Waterford City, Ireland. It sounds cliche’ but Photography is always my interest where capturing
people as my subject whether the beauty or emotion embodies that
certain moment seized into pieces of photographs.

The LOVE of being with HAPPY PEOPLE made me specialised in WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY. My style of photography is REPORTAGE with an icing of CONTEMPORARY and of course a retro TRADITIONAL that makes it all a MAGAZINE STYLE photography. Allow me to present your story with your photographs. I have these thoughts, "at the end of the day, your cake will be eaten, your guests will have gone home... but your captured moments will become your cherish memories"

In conjuction with wedding photography, I also do MATERNITY SHOOTS... and on the other side, I have the passion for fashion as they say.. I do MODEL PORTFOLIOS and SOCIAL-PERSONAL EVENTS too! For MORE DETAILS please email: donkphotography@yahoo.co.uk or contact mobile: 0868200667

Lucie and Paul E-session

It was last year when I first met Lucie and Paul. These couple is so amazing that they wanted to secure the date (booked me) for more than a year to their wedding to have things sorted ahead of time leaving no worries during the process. It was a word of mouth, I happened to do a wedding of their friend. With that, I’m impressed and should I say proud that that’s how clients treated me now these days, haha! (whew!). Thanks guys!

Anyhow, these set of photos were captured in their hometown… It was really fun doing the shoot.. It was like watching a cinema! :)

Meet Lucie…

Meet Paul…

They are the lovely couple…

I know how cozy this coffee shop is!

People who come here often gets carried away…

With the scenery…

Really a romantic place and better top it with a kiss…

That feeling… is amazing!

They know what’s in each other’s mind.. Just leave it to them.. :)

Being inlove is like laughing out from nothing… you just happen to smile in anything and in any moment…

Aaah… Traffic jam! :)

She is all yours Paul!

Look at how beautiful this BRIDE is… I’m sure it will be MORE fun and happy moments on the BIG DAY ahead! ;)

My new wedding slide show

This is a compilation of some of the weddings I did here in Ireland. Hope you guys like this! ;)

Southeast Wedding Magazine- Spring Issue

In the current issue of Southeast Wedding Magazine, you will find the couple Paul and Clare’s wedding photos in the “Real Weddings” section whom I covered, shot their big day in Tramore, Co. Waterford, Ireland.

I’d like to thank the couple for writing this note regarding the photographer which is yours truly :)

Here’s the note…

“Photography: Our photographer Don-K, www.donkphotography.com, was trully excellent. We had a great time with Don when he took our engagement photos and his eye for detail added to both our engagement and wedding photos. Don is so professional and it was a pleasure having him capture our memories so well.”

Angie

It’s been a couple of years since I covered her BiG DAY and yet we still keep in touch when have the chance. A couple of years ago, she’s the what you call “The Greek-Irish Bride” but at this stage and this moment, she just wanted to have some memories capturing her expressions, her beauty! :)

Capturing those beautiful eyes wasn’t too hard at all.. In fact, it’s an honor for me that she came back for this shoot which means, she liked my service as photographer :)

Here are the photos…

Amy and Michael Wedding

Weddings are always challenging to cover no matter you somehow expect what’s going to happen like ah yeah man and woman at half 1 they’ll be seeing each other for the first time then after half an hour most likely they’re pronounced husband and wife but oh don’t be carried away with that coz there’s always few twists if not on the wedding party then on photographer’s side.. But that’s all about being spontaneous isn’t it?!?

Anyhow, this post is all about the newly married couple AMY and MiCHAEL. Honestly, I’m delighted that I have been their photographer during the month of hearts. I can still remember when AMY rang me asking about the pricing and as she said “ah I just want to know about the range of your price, I’m happy with your style” considering she only saw my work online through a friend who was on one of the weddings I did last year. As a photographer, I’m very happy that the word of mouth is spreading :)

AMY and MiCHAEL are together since May 2001 and they’re blessed with a beautiful girl who is one of the flower girls too!

If you have been coming back, viewing my posts, it’s obvious that I love taking detail shots and I must say I love all the details in this wedding. Of course, it’s AMY’s ideas while MICHAEL was in CHAD  for 4 months doing some humanitarian service :)

Ceremony: Foulkstown Church, Waterford Road, Kilkenny

Reception: New Park Hotel, Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny

I just couldn’t wait to show you the photos.. here they are! :)

Women think if not all about bags then it’s shoes! Amy’s shoes deserved a portrait itself.. ;)

It’s LOUBOUTiN baby! :)

Look how naturally gorgeous she is…

A lil bit of brush there..

A lil bit here..

And there she goes!

This is the part that’s woohoo!

I just love this series.. It’s so AMY :)

Aah the sister :)

The veil moment…

aah look at that cutie lil MiA.. her daughter :)

And now the gentlemen.. dashing!

..There she arrived with grace and cheerfulness, isn’t she lovely?! :)

They are just cute lil ones!  So angelic :)

…Here comes the BRiDE! Lovely.. lovely.. lovely..

Wife.. Husband.. Married..

Isn’t it amazing feeling? :)

The exit…

So happy together!

The bridal party

Woohoo! Twiiit twiiit!

Gorgeous!

Sleek…

Look at the dashing groom.. :)

And the infamous signature move!

another woohoo! such a cool bride! :)

Now, we’re talking! ;)

The Bride and Groom moment…

such a sweet moment…

and they really mean it :)

Another thing I love about these couple is that there’s still a child in them.. :)

Everyone just couldn’t stop talking about the shoes.. so, here’s few peeks again!

and as they own the moment.. they own each other.. and that’s how these photographs are made :)

I am delighted to have been their photographer in their momentous moment! :)   ..I believed, they’re having their good times in their honeymoon at Hawaii, San Francisco and Los Angeles for 3 weeks all together! Gosh, 3 weeks! Ok, forget about us here in Ireland for the moment.. ENJOY lads and CONGRATS again! :)

Ceire’ and Ciaran Wedding

I think you have seen the pre-wedding (aka engagement session) photos of these lovely couple if you are one of those who have visited my blog before right? :) Anyhow, on this post you will see how lovely, beautiful they are in their big day! Look at how comfortable they were that day while I was capturing the moments of their lifetime.. You will observe that most of the photos were taken as if I wasn’t there! So, that’s the beauty or advantage of  having some shots pre-wedding! :)

When Night Falls!

I know that I may not be the best guy for landscapes and sceneries but through flicking some photo magazines, I was encouraged to try some night shots this time.. Although as a photographer, you’re always expected to nail shots like these photos.. Fair enough, if you stick your composition to the rule of third then there’s no way your photos wouldn’t look good if not great! Having said that, yes you can follow the rule but you can also break it.. A friend of mine says, in order to break the rule, you must be good if not better in following the said rule first though! :D

There’s no better place to shoot the City of  Waterford than capturing it from the opposite side of the quay.. After gathering infos from few Irish friends, I was able to pin point the site where I could visually see the entire city of the Deise’… I also shot few other places within the surroundings!

Anyhow, here’s some shots of the city…

Sony Alpha DT30mm F2.8 macro SAM

Macro world.. I just recently bought a new lens from Sony which is their latest MACRO lens. Apparently, this is the lightest and shortest macro lens at the moment which is pretty handy when you are just going to use this for shots like rings and other wedding details. But mind you, I was really impressed by the outcome of my first few click shots upon having it the first time. Since I love bokeh a lot, I was wowed by this new macro lens.. Not only that it’s good for innanimate objects but if you are using an APS-C sensor, you’ll also benefit it’s 1:1 ratio which is quite good for portrait too.. and I have to mention again, the bokeh.. You’ll love it for it’s creamy bokeh!

Here’s some shots I did and they’re straight from the camera without enhancement.. though, resized in PS for web size :)

The Coloma-Eco Experience, Episode 2

If you have been following my blog and in my previous post which was not too long ago, I had an experience with the Coloma-Ecos which was obviously some shoots. :) That was just impromtu but this time, it’s a date, a set-up, a thing that’s meant to be! A couple of months ago, Nikole asked me if I’m available for the said date which was before her daughter named “Z” turned ONE. :D I was indeed and then I said yes and she booked me right away!

The idea that I had on was just to capture what they are really.. like being themselves.. like capturing what they do as a family and as individuals.. like what life really is.. ;)

I have combined studio and outdoor shoot.. Please have a look on the outcome.. :)
